- Higher initial investment. While over time, switching from chlorine to salt water would pay for itself, the initial investment could exceed $5,000 and discourage many people.
- Damage to your accessories is also a factor. Reports have shown that liners, lighting, fixtures, masonry, and even heaters can depreciate much faster with a salt water pool. However, this only applies to outdated or older equipment.
- Calcium build up due to high pH levels can potentially stick to the surface of the pool and become a pain to remove.
